The We-Fi Community Group is a Los Angeles based public forum for people interested in Wi-Fi, community building, and the Web to discuss ideas, get help, and present projects.
Meetings will generously be hosted by Machine Project. Dates & itineraries will be posted here.
Artist Adam Overton will talk a bit about his practice and will help lead a discussion about social exchanges that involve sharing and openess. Also, we'll be taking a look at the backend of the Network O' Love, a Valentine's wireless wiki intervention staged from Machine's open wireless network. Finally, we'll be giving advice and lending a hand with any problems/projects people bring. See ya there!
We-Fi is off for the holidays, eating ham and being with friends and family. We'll be back soon with a meeting. See you in 2008!
Machine Project is hosting a We-Fi class on How To Create A Wi-Fi Community. This class is for beginner to advanced web monkeys and is designed as an introduction to several topics; networks, linux, wikis, routers & virtual communities. Knowledge of some or any of these items would be beneficial but is not necessary. Familiarity with computers and an eagerness to learn are a must.
Cost $115 (price includes $75 wireless router).
