Community Wireless

Description

The goal of We-Fi's Community Wireless effort is to grow a grassroots, ubiquitous, open, wireless network across a large urban area by providing people with the tools and knowledge to share their internet connectivity and participate in wireless community building.

The network is comprised of independently owned & operated wireless access points, each running DD-WRT, (a Linux distro for routers) that authenticates against a community RADIUS server. This enables operators of the AP's to securely share their internet service with other We-Fiers while keeping control over access and usage. We-Fi hosts its own RADIUS server, which We-Fiers can freely sign up to use.
